NBM Founders
Wayne & Marcia McWhorter

The McWhorters were called into ministry in 1978 from their careers in computers and nursing. After attending Bible School they returned home to the Atlanta area and currently reside in Lawrenceville, Ga.  Wayne and Marcia have been married for 40 years and have insights for families as well as ministries. They have three sons and a daughter-in-law living in this same area. Both are ordained ministers, holding credentials in several churches in both the U.S. and Kenya.

Pastoring/Colleges: After serving as Associate Pastors in several churches, they founded and pastored a new work in Lawrenceville for six years. Wayne’s mother was found with incurable cancer requiring constant care so they released their church. After her death, they returned to ministry in the churches transitioning into a teaching, missions, and counseling ministry. Wayne and Marcia have been instructors and deans of several Bible colleges and have helped to train a new generation of ministers and counselors. Each year they travel abroad with short term mission teams to such places as Africa, Jamaica, India, Peru, and Costa Rica to name a few to establish Bible schools, lead medical teams and to provide hands on training for developing ministers.

Counseling:Marcia also operates Biblical Counseling Centers and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing with a Masters degree in Pastoral Counseling. She is currently an RN in the State of Georgia and a Certified Christian Marriage & Family Therapist. The counseling ministry began from these experiences of struggling and hurting people in the churches. Marcia has over 18 years of counseling experience in resolving life’s conflicts. Her approach is cross-centered, biblical in focus with prayer as an integral part of the restoration process. Marcia came from a family of depression, anxiety and death and has worked with invalids and cancer patients. Her personal insights and victories over these struggles will encourage clients to push through their problems.

Testimonies: They believe in the miraculous power of God to transform lives, having experienced it first hand. At the age of five, Marcia was stricken with a rare incurable blood disease (similar to the boy in the plastic bubble) which kept her homebound and often bedridden. At the age of ten, her mother took her to a tent meeting in Marietta, Georgia where she was miraculously healed and began a pathway to a worldwide vision & ministry. God also provided a miracle of healing to their son at the age of four raising him from a death bed of spinal meningitis. Through the power of prayer, Marcia’s mother was healed of kidney stones, which had existed for six years. Another son was totally healed and restored after a bad wreck had left him in a wheelchair in 2001. While they have personally witnessed God’s healing power, they have also learned how to remain victorious and compassionate in the face of tragedy and loss as they ministered to other family members with cancer who died.

Our Heart: Marcia and Wayne have a heart for the training of young ministers and counselors worldwide and the development and growth of people. They have over 14 years in overseas missions and worked in bible colleges for over 10 years. They support two Aids orphanages overseas, run medical/dental clinics in slum areas as well as hold evangelistic or leadership training programs in the churches. Each year they travel overseas bringing teams who want to learn “hands-on” ministry. They have over 28 years of experience in ministry and have held all positions related to a church. They have been mentors in ministry for many years now with many spiritual children.

Our Vision
Our programs help fulfill our vision by healing, reconciling and equiping saints for the work of the ministry.  It is our belief that all in the Body of Christ have a destiny in God, a place of calling upon their lives. Our goal is to help you find your calling and gifting and to develop or perfect those gifts for the ministry. We strengthen and build the whole man: spirit, soul, and body. In summary, we want to heal you, train you, set you on fire and then send you forth into the Lord’s harvest.

The Ministry Focus:
The ministry of New Beginnings has a threefold focus. A major focus is to bring the power and wisdom of God’s Word into the personal counseling arena, providing healing, restoration and growth. New Beginnings Counseling Center is operated to provide compassion and Biblical revelation to hurting people. The second focus is to restore, train and equip the saints for ministry by identifying and developing their gifts. This is accomplished not only by mentoring and seminars, but also by providing hands on experience with local ministries and short-term mission trips. Third, but equally important is that of supporting overseas missions by bringing in U.S. teams to impact and renew mission works. These teams support church growth, evangelism, establish Bible schools for ministry training, establish medical clinics and feeding programs for the needy, support orphanages, and send aid in the form of medicines, clothing, Bibles, books, tracts, tapes, and videos. The world is dying without a Savior and we want to make a difference!

The staff of New Beginnings all share the same goal, to bring a New Beginning to you.
